Halfacre Construction Company almost at halfway mark on Gasparilla Road improvements

Halfacre Construction Company is almost at halfway mark for the Gasparilla Road improvements project, slated for completion September 2016.

Halfacre Construction Company (HalfacreConstruction.com), the area’s oldest, most established, locally owned and operated private commercial construction company, is almost at the halfway mark for the Gasparilla Road (CR 771) improvements project, which is scheduled for completion September 2016.

Halfacre Construction Company was chosen for the $22-million project by The Charlotte County Commission. The improvements, which began July 2014, include widening Gasparilla Road (CR 771), from McCall Road (SR 776) to just south of Rotonda Boulevard East, and constructing a four-lane divided roadway. Intersection improvements at SR 776, such as the installation of sidewalks and bicycle facilities, and utility improvements between Rotonda Boulevard East and Cattle Dock Point Road are also being done.

“The project is on time and on budget,” said Brian Barnes, Charlotte County government’s capital projects engineer for public works. “Halfacre Construction Company has been helpful throughout this project, and we have weekly progress meetings to ensure it continues to run smoothly.”

Currently, crews are installing the deck slabs on the east side of the bridge and a new utility system from Marathon Boulevard to SR 776 while removing the old system.

Starting this week, a directional bore is being installed under SR 776, just east of CR 771, to provide for a new water main on the north side of SR 776. Sidewalk construction from Keystone Boulevard moving northward is underway and fill material is being imported to begin road construction from San Domingo to Marathon Boulevard. Crews are also in the process of completing storm drain structures and storm water retention ponds.
