Halfacre Construction Company begins construction on Loveland Village

Halfacre Construction Company recently began work on the Loveland Village's three apartment buildings and clubhouse.

Halfacre Construction Company (www.HalfacreConstruction.com), the area’s oldest, most established, locally owned and operated private commercial construction company, recently began work on the Loveland Village’s three apartment buildings and clubhouse.

Upon completion in 2015, the Loveland Village, a 42-apartment complex, will offer up to 94 adults with developmental disabilities supportive housing and access to an array of social services that support their inclusion into the community through social activities and supported employment.

The new residential complexes, located adjacent to the current Loveland Center campus, will also feature a clubhouse for resident activities and a student and resident services building with meeting areas, classrooms and a health and fitness facility.

Loveland Village apartments will have units that are built with universal design principles, ensuring that individuals with limited mobility, such as wheelchair users, will be able to comfortably and conveniently access all aspects of their homes with limited or no assistance. This includes lowered sinks, special door handles, and widened doorways.

In addition, Loveland Village will have a 10,000-square-foot clubhouse that will serve as the center for activities for residents and community members. The entire project is estimated to take 12 - 14 months, with an anticipated completion date in May of 2016.

“Loveland Village is a pilot project for Florida as a unique housing model to serve the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities aging in place in a safe and supportive environment,” said Carl Penxa, president and CEO of the Loveland Center. “The team at Halfacre Construction Company has provided many hours of support, lending their expertise and knowledge throughout a rigorous underwriting process to secure state funding, and promptly responding and adapting to state guidelines and restrictions. They have been partners in the development of Loveland Village, and we are grateful for their hard work and dedication to this project.”
