
A 15-year-old Hillsborough High School student faces criminal charges after he was caught with a gun on campus.
According to the Tampa Police Department, a teacher at the 5000 N. Central Ave. school overheard the boy talking about a gun during class. The teacher, in turn, notified the principal. School Resource Officer Frank Noel and a school security officer pulled the teen out of class and checked his bag.
A gun was recovered, police noted in an email to media.

While no threats were made by the student and no injuries occurred, the teen faces possession of a firearm on school property and minor in possession of a firearm charges, the email stated.
The boy’s name is not being released by Patch due to his age.
