J.E. Charlotte Construction Corp. selected to build clubhouse at Players Club Longboat Key

J.E. Charlotte Construction was selected to construct a new 3,900-square-foot social center for the Players Club Longboat Key residents.

J.E. Charlotte Construction Corp. (JECharlotte.com), a Venice-based construction company that provides a full range of services, was selected to construct a new 3,900-square-foot social center for the Players Club Longboat Key residents.

Exclusively for owners and renters, the new clubhouse will include a fitness center with machines and free weights, library, multi-purpose rooms for banquets, meetings and events with a state-of-the-art kitchen as well as management offices for staff. The exterior of the building will feature a wraparound veranda, a covered patio, an outdoor entertaining area with grills and a fire pit, and all new landscaping.

J.E. Charlotte Construction Corp. began demolition in early June on the existing 30-year-old, 2,000-square-foot clubhouse and office and adjacent raised deck areas. The over $1.3-million construction project will encompass approximately 8,000 square feet and is slated for completion at the end of December 2015. The architect on the project is DSDG Architects.

“The entire crew at J.E. Charlotte Corp. has been amazing to work with and have made this entire process a very smooth one,” said Howard Frank, the president of the Players Club condominium association. “We needed someone to be an active partner for us as we worked through this process to make an outstanding and unique neighborhood feature.”

The approval process to bring this new addition to fruition began at the end of 2013. The residents approved the project in August 2014, with only 27 out of 134 units voting against the project.

The Players Club community came together to help design and provide input for the new facility during town hall meetings and various committees, including an interior design committee with six residents and outside design experts developing the social center’s transitional décor.

Originally built from 1981-83, the Players Club Longboat Key, located at 1425 Gulf of Mexico Drive on Longboat Key, is comprised of four mid-rise buildings offering two- to four-bedroom residences.
