HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — Deputies dealt with an unexpected roadblock Wednesday morning — a 9-foot-long alligator, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post. (Watch a video of the gator below.)

“After a few twists and turns and with the help of Florida Fish and Wildlife (Conservation Commission), we were able to reel him out and relocate him to a safer spot,” the agency wrote. “Just another day here in Florida!”

HCSO shared bodycam footage of deputies and an FWC officer wrangling the gator. In the video, a deputy can be heard talking to the reptile.

“Oh hi, big boy,” he said at one point.

Before that the deputy said, “You just taking a nap?”

He also implored the large gator to leave the road on his own.

“Come on,” the deputy said. “Get going.”
