Lightning Strike Leaves Several Injured at Bucs Game

Tampa Fire Rescue was called out to Raymond James Stadium near the end of the Buccaneers-Packers game.

Several people have been taken to the hospital following a lightning strike at Raymond James Stadium Sunday near the close of the Buccaneers-Packers game.

According to Tampa Fire Rescue spokesman Jason Penny, a report came in around 4:11 p.m. indicating about 5 to 7 people had been struck by lightning in Lot 14, which is outside the stadium. Fire Rescue units treated and transported seven people to St. Joseph’s Hospital in stable condition, Penny said. An additional four to five people were expected to go to the hospital on their own.

Those injured range in age from the early 20s to a man in his 70s, Penny wrote in an email to media.
