Man Arrested In Hillsborough County DUI Crash That Killed Motorcyclist

A Mulberry man was arrested after a crash that killed a motorcyclist in Hillsborough County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Investigators said a GMC Sierra driven by 59-year-old Santiago Ruiz Rangel was exiting a private driveway and traveling south when it entered the path of a westbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

The truck struck the motorcycle, killing the driver at the scene. Authorities identified the victim as a 44-year-old Bartow man.
Troopers arrested Ruiz Rangel on a charge of DUI manslaughter and took him to the Hillsborough County Jail. Authorities said his blood alcohol concentration was 0.170, more than twice Florida's legal limit of 0.08.
