Man Dies In Head-On Crash On Selmon Expressway

Police said the collision happened shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday in the eastbound lanes of State Road 618.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — An Orlando man is dead after the car he was driving collided head-on with another vehicle on the Selmon Expressway.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened shortly before 3 a.m. near milepost 6. Police said a Honda driven by a 40-year-old Bartow woman was traveling the wrong way in the eastbound lanes when it collided with a Toyota driven by the 33-year-old man.

After the crash, the Toyota rotated and collided with a concrete barrier wall, police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Honda suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
