Man's Disturbance On Tampa Flight Causes Delay To PA: Reports

Social media video of the incident seemingly shows the man engaging in a tussle with a passenger before being put into a headlock.

TAMPA, FL — A Philadelphia-bound American Airlines flight was delayed Tuesday after a 29-year-old man allegedly called flight attendants “blue-eyed white devils” and threatened to “take this plane down," according to media reports.

Shail Patel was arrested at Tampa International Airport after his suspected disturbance caused a 30-minute delay, Philadelphia's 6 ABC reported Friday.

Video of the incident has circulated social media, including on Facebook. The video shows one passenger, identified in the caption as an off-duty officer, putting the man in headlock after engaging in a tussle with him.

Patel was accused of using anti-Semitic remarks before slapping one passenger and spitting on them, WFLA reported. Six off-duty officers were able to get Patel off of the plane, the outlet reported.

Patel remain incarcerated Friday in the Hillsborough County Jail and was charged on suspicion of disorderly intoxication and two counts of battery, according to jail records.
