Medical Zombies Aren't Green

We all prefer to drink water that's been purified, try to eat organic foods, exercise daily. Essentially, trying to keep ourselves as chemically-free as possible, right?
But what do we reach for every time we have a pain or medical condition?
If we have knee pain - we take medication
If we have migraines - we take medication
If we have a thyroid issue - we take medication
If we have high cholesterol - we take medication
If we have neuropathy - we take medication
You get the point. We've become medical zombies. It's like we haven't a mind of our own and just reach for the prescription bottle every time we have a health problem.
There are non-drug alternatives that do help the body heal itself. Take laser therapy for knee pain for instance. Most people self-treat with NSAID medication but these drugs actually damage the articular cartilage and are not meant to be taken long term. Laser therapy has no side effects and has been shown to decrease inflammation and increase mobility.
Migraines can be devastating and we know the pain can be unbearable. There are alternatives to taking a prescription. First the cause of the headache needs to be determined. Sometimes it's due to gluten/ other food sensitivities and sometimes it's sleep apnea. Migraines can have a cervical spine component too. Most often, there are several causes and each one can usually be treated without drugs.
The most common thyroid disorder in the U.S. is caused by an autoimmune condition called Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Thyroid hormone replacement does have its place in treatment of this problem but unless the autoimmune condition is addressed, the thyroid will remain under attack by the body's own immune system. Most of our immune system is based in the gut, our intestines. When we have intestinal hyperpermeability, also referred to as "Leaky Gut" syndrome, this impacts our immune system and can set the stage for thyroid disorders and much much more. Treating "Leaky Gut" cannot be done with any medication now on the market. It must be done with a totally natural treatment approach.
I could go on but my main point here is to say "Go Green" with your body and stop being a medical zombie.
