No Immediate Charges in Fatal Tampa Shooting

Police say the man who fired had a gun pointed on him.

Tampa Police know who shot and killed a man late Monday night outside a convenience store, but they have no plans to file charges any time soon.

That’s because the State Attorney’s Office has been called in to review the details that led to the fatal shooting, the department stated in an email to media.

The incident unfolded around 10:40 p.m. Monday at the Hope Food Store, 4002 N. 22nd St. Police say Anton Kerel Fisher, 35, was outside the store when a fight broke out between a friend of his and another man. Fisher, police say, pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot the other man.

Anthony Rashaad Martin, 23, was also outside the store and witnessed the fight. Police say Fisher turned his gun on Martin, who has a concealed firearm permit.

Martin pulled out his gun and shot Fisher, the email from the police department stated.

Fisher died on the way to a local hospital. Martin stayed behind and cooperated with police, the email noted.

Charges are pending a determination from the state attorney’s office.
