No Treats for Dog Poop Dispute Shooter, U.S. Marshals Say

The man, accused of firing multiple shots at his neighbor, was arrested Oct. 31.

The Tampa man accused of shooting his neighbor over a dog poop dispute had his life on the lam come to an abrupt end on Halloween.

According to the Tampa Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force caught up with Joshame Deon Sewell in Belle Glade on Oct. 31.

Sewell, 20, disappeared Oct. 24 following an argument with his neighbor, Dante J. Roberson, 30. Police say Roberson’s dog pooped in Sewell’s 9409 N. 12th St. yard. When he spotted the poop, Sewell became “enraged, retrieved a rifle and opened fire on the victim.”

Roberson was struck several times in the right leg and once in the right hand. He remained at Tampa General Hospital over the weekend recovering from the injuries.

While police said Sewell was their man in the case, they couldn’t find him until the fugitive task force tracked him down to South Florida.

Sewell was being held at the Palm Beach County Jail on Monday without bond. He is awaiting extradition to Hillsborough County where he faces an aggravated assault charge.

Police do not know what kind of dog Roberson owns.
