Pedestrian Killed in Hillsborough Avenue Crash

Investigators say the incident appears to be a "tragic accident."

A 33-year-old woman is dead following a Wednesday night accident along East Hillsborough Avenue.

According to the Tampa Police Department, Tamica Solomon and another person were attempting to walk across Hillsborough Avenue from the south curb to the north curb near the intersection of 42nd Street around 8:55 p.m.

Solomon was struck by a vehicle during the attempt and died at the scene. The second pedestrian, who has not been identified, was uninjured.

Police say Solomon did not cross within a designated crossing.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and cooperated with the police investigation.

Authorities have not identified the driver and say no charges are expected in the case.

“The incident appears to be a tragic accident,” an email from the police department to media stated.
