TAMPA, FL -- After the nail-biting stress of watching Hurricane Michael pass so close to Tampa Bay, you deserve a beer, or two.
As Tampa experiences fall's first touch of cool weather this weekend, it's an ideal time to head to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park in downtown Tampa for the area's largest Oktoberfest celebration.
Continuing through Sunday, Oct. 14, the park along the Hillsborough River will be filled with the sounds of German singing and cheer.

Every year thousands of people converge on downtown Tampa for Oktoberfest Tampa.
The German singing and dancing will continue from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Old favorites and new challenges await competitors this year including: stein hoisting, keg stacking, carry the wench, tug-o-war, grain sack toss and corn hole.
In between, attendees can chow down on classic chicken schnitzel, bratwurst, frankfurters, sauerkraut, German potato salad and Bavarian pretzels.
Tickets are $10 for one day.
