TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area residents who have been salivating over the impending arrival of Sprinkles Cupcakes don’t have to wait much longer. The bakery plans to open the doors on its new Hyde Park Village location Thursday, April 28.

“We’ll be baking our cupcakes and cookies from scratch on site all day, every day,” the company promised on its Facebook page. “Our ice cream will be churned on site day in and day out.”

Sprinkles made a splash in February when it announced plans to open the new location this spring at 717 S. Dakota Ave.

We are thrilled to make our Florida debut in Tampa with homemade cupcakes, cookies and ice cream,” Candace Nelson, Sprinkles’ founder and “Cupcake Wars” judge said when announcing the new location. “I am also excited to announce our location will feature a Cupcake ATM to satisfy late-night sugar cravings 24/7.”

That ATM is a special vending machine that is able to dispense cupcakes 24 hours a day. It can hold up to 400 cupcakes at a time and is restocked throughout the day to ensure freshness, company officials say.

Sprinkles opened its first location in Beverly Hills, Calif., in March 2012 and has since expanded across the country.

Sprinkles switches up its cupcake flavors based on a changing menu with different selections provided based on the day of the week. A few mainstay flavors are always on the menu, too. Flavors include banana, cinnamon sugar, Cuban coffee, lemon, milk chocolate, vanilla, peanut butter chip and more. To check out the full menu and pricing, visit Sprinkles online.

The bakery has not yet announced hours for the new Tampa location.
