Stormy Weather Possible As Week Continues

Tampa Bay area residents should notice a slight drop in temperatures heading into the weekend.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area residents may want to keep their umbrellas handy over the next few days.

The National Weather Service says Wednesday’s sunny start may not last. While temperatures are expected to climb into the low 80s during the daytime hours, storm chances creep in overnight when the low is expected to drop to the mid-60s.

Thursday is expected to kick off with a 40 percent chance of showers, but the storms shouldn’t stick around all day. Forecasters anticipate sunny conditions once the rain moves on and a high in the upper 70s.

Temperatures are forecast to remain in the mid- to upper-70s through Sunday with overnight lows in the mid-50s to low 60s anticipated.

While Wednesday and Thursday’s possible showers should pave the way for a mild weekend, forecasters do warn that thunderstorms are also possible along with the potential for wet conditions. Should thunderstorms develop, they could produce strong, gusty winds, locally heavy rain and lightning, the weather service warns.
