Tampa Bay Area Weather: Easter Weekend 2016

Find out what's in store for the Tampa Bay area this weekend.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area residents hoping for some outdoor time over Easter weekend may find the weather isn’t quite as cooperative as they’d like. The National Weather Service is forecasting a rainy weekend ahead with chances for showers persisting into the workweek.

Friday kicks things off with a 40 percent chance of showers and an anticipated high in the low 80s. Storms are expected to stick around into the nighttime hours with thunderstorms also possible. The overnight low is expected to fall to about 70 degrees in much of the region.

Forecasters say thunderstorms are most likely in the interior part of the region and state. Those that do develop may produce heavy rain, lightning, hail and the potential for strong, gusty winds. Winds on Friday morning kicked up so much in Pasco County’s Dade City area that an estimated 60 mobile homes were damaged. County officials say four roofs were ripped off their homes courtesy of flat-line winds estimated in the 60 mph range. One home was completely destroyed.
