Tampa Bay Workweek Weather: More Storms Ahead

Find out what the Tampa Bay area can expect in the weather department over the week ahead.

TAMPA BAY, FL — The Tampa Bay area is in for another week of relatively normal summertime weather, but there is some good news in sight. Anticipated high temperatures are expected to be slightly cooler over the next day or two. But, folks shouldn’t expect much of a break from the heat just yet.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday is expected to kick things off with a high in the upper 80s anticipated. Although not much lower than the 90s the Bay area has been experiencing, it is a step in the right direction for those ready for a break from constant heat.

While a somewhat cooler high is expected Monday, so are thunderstorms. The weather service says there’s a 40 percent chance for scattered storms mainly after 2 p.m. Storm chances stick around into the overnight hours when the low should fall into the mid-70s.

While Tuesday is anticipated to be a near repeat of Monday in weather, folks can expect the day’s high to break the 90-degree mark by a degree or two in much of the region. Storm chances move in during the afternoon hours and stick around into the evening when the low is expected to drop to the mid-70s once again.

Wednesday is expected to start off bright and sunny with a high around 92 degrees in much of the Bay area. There’s a 50 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon hours. Storm chances linger at 30 percent heading into the overnight hours. The evening low is expected to only fall into the upper 70s.

Thursday and Friday are both expected to be rather steamy days. The anticipated high in much of the region both days is expected to reach about 93 degrees. Overnight lows will fall into the upper 70s. As for storm chances, Thursday brings a 40 percent chance during the daytime hours and a 30 percent chance overnight. There’s a 40 percent chance of storms Friday during the afternoon hours. The evening, however, is anticipated to be partly cloudy.

While no widespread severe weather is expected during the week, forecasters do warn that some storms may deliver locally heavy rain, frequent lightning strikes and strong winds. Residents should pay close attention to conditions and remain inside if threatening weather arrives.
