Tampa Driver Leaves Scene After Striking Bicyclists: Video

The bicyclist who was struck died from his injuries two days later.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa police are seeking the public's help to identify the driver in a fatal hit-and-run crash Sunday.

Just after 4:30 p.m., the victim was riding a bike on 28th Avenue when he turned into the intersection of 22nd Street and was struck by a gold or beige Nissan Altima.

Police said the driver and passenger of the Nissan returned to the intersection to check on the victim, who was conscious.

Tampa police said the driver told the bicyclist that she did not have insurance and needed to get back to her children.

She then left before police and fire rescue arrived.

The victim was able to get up and walk to the side of the road. Police said his arm was injured and appeared to be broken. Tampa Fire Rescue took him to the hospital where he died Tuesday morning from his injuries.
