Tampa Man Dies After Boat Crashes Into Rock Jetty: Officials

TAMPA, Fla. — A 61-year-old Tampa man died Saturday after a 27-foot vessel carrying two people crashed into a rock jetty near Picnic Island Park, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Both occupants were ejected into the water, with one swimming to shore and being taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, officials said. The second occupant, identified as David A. Hochberg, 61, was later recovered from the water and pronounced dead, according to ABC.

FWC officers, Tampa police and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to the scene, and the crash remains under investigation.
