Tampa Man Killed Fiery I-10 Crash

The crash in Jefferson County involved two semi-trucks and a SUV.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, FL — A 23-year-old Tampa man is dead following a crash on Interstate 10 in Jefferson County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the March 16 wreck occurred around 2:45 p.m. as Simeon Ibarra Rodriguez, 66, of Deleon Springs was traveling west in the right travel lane of I-10 in a semi-truck. At that time, Matthew Bien-Aime of Tampa was traveling west in the left travel lane.

The highway patrol said Rodriguez attempted a lane change into the left travel lane and drove into the path of Bien-Aime’s Ford SUV. The left rear trailer side of the semi struck the right side of the SUV, redirecting the vehicle across the median and into the eastbound lanes.

The SUV entered the eastbound lanes, directly into the path of the oncoming semi driven by Oglesby, the report said. The SUV’s front struck the semi’s front and caught fire upon impact, troopers noted.

Bein-Aime was killed in the crash. Rodriguez and Oglesby were not injured, the report said.
