Tampa Named One Of America’s Biggest ‘Party Hubs’

When it comes to towns that know how to get their party on, Tampa ranks among the best, according to a new survey.

Tampa, FL — Tampa knows how to get its party on.

That’s the conclusion the folks at Wanderu.com came to after crunching numbers to determine America’s “biggest party hubs.” The website dedicated travel recently took a dive into Yelp to find out which big cities across the country have the most party-related attractions. Metrics considered in the survey included the number of bars, music venues, pool halls, beer gardens and jazz venues, among others.

When all was said and done, Tampa made the website’s Top 10 list. Scoring a solid eight, ahead of Dallas and Denver, Tampa was credited with 1,314 bars. All told Wanderu.com found 62 dance clubs in the metro area and 33 karaoke bars.

First-place honors in the survey went to New York, N.Y., with its 5,065 bars. Los Angeles trailed in second place with 2,751 bars. San Francisco, Chicago and San Diego also made the Top five.

Tampa was the only Florida city to crack the Top 10. Miami did, however, earn 13th-place honors and Orlando came in 16th.

Wanderu’s number crunchers seemed a little surprised that Tampa’s numbers put it ahead of Miami.

“Miami failed to deliver as much variety in the number of party establishments as its forerunners,” the website noted. “In fact, its party hub status fell short even to the smaller and less tourist-frequented fellow Floridian town of Tampa.”
