Tampa nonprofit launches vintage marketplace to support efforts against local child sex-trafficking
On heels of its first major public event, Tampa Bay's Bridging Freedom is raising funds to construct a first-in-Florida safe home community

TAMPA, Fla. (March 26, 2015) -- Bridging Freedom, the local nonprofit organization leading the charge to construct Florida’s first-ever comprehensive therapeutic safe-home community for children traumatized by sex trafficking, recently launched an online marketplace (as one extension of its many fundraising efforts): The Shoppes of Bridging Freedom.
The Shoppes has an array of boutique and vintage clothing, accessories, shoes, and other items for women, men, and children; and The Shoppes is currently expanding its selection to books, jewelry, and electronics. Proceeds directly support Bridging Freedom’s primary mission to construct the first-in-Florida safe-home community. Donations are welcome and graciously appreciated.

This launch comes on the heels of several major recent accomplishments for the Tampa nonprofit. For one, Bridging Freedom hosted an impactful candlelight vigil in January, attracting about two hundred participants, raising thousands of dollars for construction, and “sharing light and love” for those not yet rescued.
Mrs. America 2014 Austen Williams headlined a group of passionate speakers and performers. Not surprisingly, many are unaware of the seriousness of this issue around Tampa Bay. Several left more informed than before – attendee Peggy Gray said it “Definitely pulled heartstrings… I’ve made one order so far at the new online store, and I plan on getting one of the bracelets Mrs. America is selling there.”
“After years of pulling pieces in place, this is really happening now – people are picking up key roles, we’re making huge strides down the field,” said Laura Hamilton, president of Bridging Freedom.
