Tampa Residents Climb Bank of America Plaza Stairs for Lung Health
Fight For Air Climb raises money to support the American Lung Association in Florida.

Here in Florida, there are more than 2.5 million people living with lung disease, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer and others. To help fund the American Lung Association’s work to end lung disease, today, the American Lung Association in Florida announced that it will host the iconic Fight For Air Climb Tampa and return to the Bank of America Plaza on Saturday, April 1.
This is the 18th year of the Fight For Air Climb Tampa, the premier stair-climbing event in Tampa Bay. Participants will climb 42 flights, 914 stairs of the Bank of America Plaza to finish at the historic Tampa Bay Club.
“Fight For Air Climb events are great for friends, family, companies and first responder teams to climb stairs to support people with lung disease and lung cancer, have fun and get some great exercise. This event is designed for every type of climber, from beginners to competitive climbers. Anyone can climb!” said Christopher Chiodo, Event Committee Chair with Presenting Sponsor Raymond James Financial.

“We are thrilled to give our past climbers the opportunity to return home to the original event location where it all began at the Bank of America Plaza,” shared Steven Riddle, executive director for the American Lung Association in Tampa. “And we hope this unique endurance opportunity, encourages the active runners in our community to come out and try something new and challenging.”
Joining the Fight For Air Climb supports the work of the Lung Association through research, education, and advocacy to defeat lung cancer, champion clean air for all, improve the quality of life for those living with lung disease and their families, and create a tobacco-free future. This year the Lung Association will fund $13.2 million for more than 130 lung health research grants including a flu study at the University of Florida led by Emily Moser, PhD.
