TAMPA, FL — Tampa police released a body camera video Wednesday that shows a Black school resource officer at Middleton High School using racial slurs while talking on the phone.
Tampa police said Delvin White, an eight-year veteran of the police department, was fired after using derogatory language at the school Nov. 13.
While under investigation, White told his supervisor about another incident on Nov. 30 when he used the same racial slur while making an arrest.

"Derogatory statements made by police officers jeopardize the trust that our department works to establish with our community," said Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan. "Tampa police officers are held to a higher standard and incidents like this negatively impact the entire law enforcement profession."
White was fired for violating police department policy prohibiting discriminatory conduct.
