Tampa Bay Food Tours SPOTLIGHT The Mill
The south Tampa location of The Mill is a feast for the eyes and taste buds.

St. Pete's The Mill has transformed it's new south Tampa location into a visual dining experience.
Opened just last month The Mill has much to be proud of. I'll start with Istvan Torok's interior design that reads steampunk fashioned with fascinating found objects. You feel the space practically breathe.

A limited but well balanced wine list had some excellent choices but be forewarned there are only craft beer options as of now. Not my loss, my hubby only drinks lite beer so it is the only time he shares a bottle of wine with me.

We debate on so many intriguing choices and decide on two 1st plates to start off our meal.

WATERMELON BRUSCHETTA Tomato, European Cucumber, Whipped Feta, Smoked Pistachio Brittle, Añejo Agave Syrup, Rustic Loaf had an amazing flavor melody. This dish is a guest favorite at the St. Pete location.

SMOKED ONION SOUBISE Crispy Shallots, House Chips. Not your Mama's Lipton soup mix variety dip.
Not enough room to partake in the vegetable charcuterie but we will try on our next visit.

VEGETABLE CHARCUTERIE PASTRAMI CAULIFLOWER with SMOKED CARAMELIZED ONION SOUBISE • FRIED CAULILINI with SUNFLOWER AIOLI • ROASTED TURNIP GRATIN DAUPHINOISE with FIG REMOULADE • GRILLED AVOCADO with BACON PRALINE & LEMON MARMALADE choose from 3 to 7 items for your board.
3rd plates are debated. Hubby eyes the meatloaf wellington but he's had meat loaf this week already. I choose the scallops.

SEARED DIVER SCALLOPS Curried Cauliflower Puree, Sundried Tomato Exotic Mushroom Ragout, Preserved Lemon Tzatziki, Pomegranate Molasses, Carrot Hay The cook on the scallops was perfect.
Hubby chooses and he chooses wisely, the bone in pork shank pot pie was an absolute hit.

PORK SHANK POT PIE Sweet Peas, Mirepoix, Sweet Potatoes, Smoked Gouda Béchamel, Puff Pastry, Natural Jus really impressed. We would return for this dish alone. The Jus pan gravy was as Sunday dinner as it gets. Yum!

Leave room for the in house made desserts!

MILL MUDSLIDE Flourless Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Coffee Cream, Bailey's Mousse was as tasty as it was beautiful.

POUNDCAKE GRILLED CHEESE Lemon Stilton, White Chocolate, Peach Coulis was a light fresh choice for dessert.
Chef Ted Dorsey came out personally to check on our dining experience. Too often a dinner date night out can leave you disillusioned about the cost / dining experience. At The Mill it is easy to understand what all the fuss is about.

Lovely outdoor patio seating for al fresco dining is a welcome option for when it is just too nice to sit inside.
Don't forget brunch.

A final note- I would have never have guessed the Mill has only been open less than 3 weeks. It is already a well oiled machine.
