Brandon Traffic Stop Leads to Arrests After 2 Motorcyclists Flee, HCSO Says

BRANDON, FL — Two motorcyclists were arrested in the Brandon area after fleeing a traffic stop on Saturday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

With help from the Aviation Unit, deputies were able to track both riders from above as they tried to evade law enforcement. (Watch video of the suspects being tracked below.)

One rider, Christopher Cruzcolon, 30, abandoned his motorcycle and ran through a storage facility before deputies took him into custody, the sheriff’s office said.

The second rider, Megan Lynne Bateman, 35, continued fleeing until a train blocked her path.

Bateman then ran along nearby railroad tracks before falling into bushes, where deputies took her into custody, the agency said.

Cruzcolon was charged with resisting an officer without violence, possession of a controlled substance, no valid driver’s license, reckless driving, no valid motorcycle license and fleeing to elude high speed.

Bateman was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, grand theft motor vehicle, reckless driving, fleeing to elude high speed, no valid motorcycle license, attaching tag not assigned, unlawful alteration of motor vehicle registration certificates, and driving with a license canceled, suspended, or revoked.

She was also arrested on seven out-of-county warrants, the sheriff’s office said.
