Teen Dispute Ends in Shooting, Minor Injuries

An argument between two groups of juveniles on bikes ended in gunfire, Tampa Police say.

The Tampa Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place Monday night involving two groups of kids on bicycles.

According to the department, the incident occurred around 6 p.m. near 1216 E. 14th Ave. when two groups of juveniles, about eight people in each group, got into a verbal dispute. At one point, the department stated in an email, one of the people pulled out a gun and fired at least five rounds into the opposing group.

One person was struck and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the email stated. Only two of the juveniles remained on the scene when police arrived.

While the investigation is ongoing, police say the crime does not appear related to a robbery nor is it connected with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. parade that was staged earlier on Monday.
