Floyd’s 99 Barbershop of South Tampa today announced plans for their grand opening event to be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The day-long celebration will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, an in-shop scavenger hunt, prizes, and more. The shop, located at 1155 S. Dale Mabry Highway, Unit 6, in South Tampa, is owned and operated by franchisee Stephanie Noyes, a lifelong member of the Tampa Bay community. “Floyd’s is all about giving our customers an amplified experience, and we can’t wait to create that excitement at our grand opening event,” said Stephanie, noting that this is her third Floyd’s location, with shops already open in Clearwater and St. Pete. “This is an opportunity for the community to celebrate with us, meet the stylists, and even get a haircut,” she said. “Floyd’s is for everyone – men, women, and kids – and we’ll be accepting walk-in appointments all day.” The South Tampa location is offering 50% off haircuts for the first 30 days, beginning on Friday. TAMPA, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating the homicide of a teenager Wednesday night in the University of South Florida area. Just before 9 p.m., while on an unrelated call near the intersection of East 124th Avenue and North 9th Street in the University of South Florida area, deputies were told a Black male teenager was lying outside a nearby duplex. When deputies arrived, they found a teen with upper-body trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives are still working to confirm the identity of the victim and are interviewing witnesses about what occurred. "It's always tragic when a young life is taken too soon, especially due to a senseless act of violence," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time of this incident with information that could help solve this case to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200."
