Ten Local Golfers Win Big in the 2013 “Big Money Tour”!

Ten local golfers shared in great prizes awarded by The Big Summer Golf Card last week as part of the 2013 Big Money Tour event it sponsors. The Big Summer Golf Card®, owned by Big Summer Golf Card Holdings, LLP, a John Neal/Pasold partnership, presented the individual prizes including cash of $2,500, golf equipment and golf certificates for rounds at favorite area courses.

Bobcat Trail Golf Club in North Port, one of the Big Summer Golf Card exclusive courses participating in the “Big Money Tour”, hosted the award presentation.  Bruce Harris, General Manager of Bobcat Trail, welcomed the winners of the September leg of the tour. The participants represented local counties with Sarasota, Venice, Port Charlotte and Northport leading the locales for being home to these avid golfers.

Carmine Rossi of Port Charlotte, winner of this month’s Grand Prize of $1,000 cash, plays a number of area courses with a group of local golfers and was thrilled to have won. “The Big Summer Golf Card takes us to some excellent courses in the area and is a great value for any golfer,” said Rossi. “The Big Money Tour is a huge added benefit for card holders,” he said. Rossi and his friends have been playing the tour since June.

Paul Schierberg of Venice celebrated his second win on the tour having taken a prize in July and now winning $500 Second Place.  All the winners have enjoyed the “Big Money Tour” and the opportunity it provides to play new and different courses around the region.

Every Big Summer Golf Card holder is automatically eligible to play the “Big Money Tour” with monthly drawings and prizes from June through October. Golfers register their rounds of golf every time they play at any of the 24 participating courses. For every five rounds of golf played in the month, golfers are entered into the drawing.

Of the 24 courses taking part in the 2013 Big Money Tour, Calusa Lakes and Rotonda Long Marsh were the most played courses registering more than 800 rounds.

In the four months of the Tour to date more than 12,000 rounds of golf have been played at the participating courses. Charles Varah, Managing Partner of Big Summer Golf Card explained “The past few years have been pretty miserable for golf play in our area and local clubs have struggled under the economic downturn.  The goal of the Tour is to help drive more summer golf play to our participating courses, those that honor the Big Summer Golf Card exclusively for value pricing on greens fees. The Tour is achieving that with courses reporting strong interest and higher levels of play.”
