Train Strikes Man in Ybor City

Details about the 65-year-old man's death remain unclear.

A 65-year-old man is dead following an incident on the railroad tracks at 7th Avenue and 31st Street in Ybor City Monday afternoon.

According to the Tampa Police Department, the accident happened around 1 p.m. A train conductor spotted the man slumped over the tracks, just south of 7th Avenue, but was unable to stop. 

While the man was pronounced dead following the collision with the train, it is unclear if he may have been deceased prior to the accident, police said in an email to media.

The medical examiner’s office has been called upon to determine cause of death.

Further details about the accident, including the man’s name, have not yet been released. The case remains under investigation.
