TALLAHASSEE, FL—A court hearing begins Monday as Florida parents sue the state over the executive order banning mask mandates in public schools, multiple media outlets report.

A group of parents is suing Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Department of Education, alleging the governor has violated the state constitution by banning school districts from requiring face masks. The lawsuit was filed August 6.

On Thursday, Leon County Circuit Judge John C. Cooper denied DeSantis' motion to dismiss the lawsuit. Cooper is presiding over the hearing, which is expected to last three days.
