USF Holds 4th Annual Campus Safety Day
Live demonstrations and a variety of safety education opportunities will be offered to students, staff and faculty.

TAMPA, FL — The University of South Florida Police Department and USF Department of Emergency Management will host the fourth annual USF Campus Safety Day event Thursday,, Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event provides an opportunity to educate the campus community on safety, disaster preparedness and crime prevention. A number of activities are planned,including: impaired driving simulations, motor vehicle crash rollover simulations, fire extinguisher demonstrations and K9 demonstrations. Special equipment like SWAT Team gear and bomb detection technology, along with fire department and law enforcement vehicles will be on display.
Law enforcement, fire rescue and emergency management personnel will be on hand to answer questions and talk about their work.

The annual Campus Safety Day event allows departments, agencies and companies the opportunity to share their programs and resources that promote community and campus safety.

In 2016, the University of South Florida Police Department and USF Department of Emergency Management hosted the first National Campus Safety Day event on the USF Tampa campus with several hundred attendees. Due to the success of the event and the opportunity it provided to interact with and educate the campus community, the concept was expanded in 2017 to include several educational and training opportunities.
