Video: Penguins Take On Chiefs, Bucs At Super Bowl Experience

TAMPA, FL — The Florida Aquarium’s African penguins scored big Friday with a field trip to the NFL Super Bowl Experience at Julian B. Lane Park in Downtown Tampa.

During their visit, the penguins trained like the pros, even waddling the 40-yard dash (with an average speed of 1 to 2 mph, Pebbles, Kini and Cliff didn’t break any records). Along with animal care professionals from The Florida Aquarium, the penguins posed with the Vince Lombardi Trophy, checked out all 54 of the rings in the display and took advantage of photo opps.

The Florida Aquarium has 10 African penguins. As African penguins are critically endangered, accredited aquariums help educate guests and inspire change in the fight to save the species.

The Florida Aquarium, located in Tampa’s Channel District, ranked as the No. 2 aquarium in North America in USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards in 2019.
