As the Tampa Police Department looks for suspects in the slaying of a 14-year-old boy outside Woodland Terrace Park on Sunday, detectives are turning to residents for help.

The department has released video that shows a silver or grey four-door vehicle. Someone who was riding inside that car is believed to be the shooter, police wrote in an email to media Monday. Detectives would also like to identify the driver of the orange or red car seen in the footage.

In addition to identifying the people in the two cars caught on video, police also want to speak with friends of the victim who may have been at the park at the time.

“The victim’s friends were present at the time of the shooting and left the scene prior to police arrival,” the email said. “Detectives want to interview those victims to obtain their account of the shooting.”

The shooting itself took place around 4:20 p.m. at the park, near the corner of North 32nd and East Diana streets. A 911 call came in around that time and police found Harris outside the park’s gates. Officers began life saving measures, but Harris was pronounced dead at Tampa General Hospital.

Harris was an eighth-grader at Greco Middle School. His mother died back in November, Fox news reported.

“He had a lot of hopes and dreams for his life to end so tragically,” Edward Harris III told the network on Monday.

Anyone with information about the crime or who can identify the drivers of the vehicles in the video is asked to call the Tampa Police Department at 813-231-6130. Anonymous tips may also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477) or by visiting www.crimestopperstb.com. Tips that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a $3,000 reward.
