Water Main Break Closes Downtown Streets

Motorists heading into the downtown area might want to avoid Cass and Morgan streets as work to fix a water main break is under way.

East bound traffic on Cass Street has been reduced to one lane and Morgan Street at Cass is closed to southbound traffic as the repairs continue, an email to media from the Tampa Water Department stated.

Motorists are asked to use Twiggs or Harrison streets as an alternative to Cass and Pierce or Jefferson streets to avoid Morgan.

Repair work is hoped to be completed by 5 p.m. Wednesday, pending weather conditions. Road restoration and a return to normal traffic patterns is anticipated by 6 p.m. Friday.
