What's Open, Closed For Juneteenth 2022 In Hillsborough County

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — Most Hillsborough County offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, June 20, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.

"Believed to be the oldest African American holiday, Juneteenth is finally being recognized for its historical significance at the county and federal levels," said Nancy Millan, Hillsborough County tax collector. "We thank the citizens and elected leaders who put in the work to make this happen."

In recognition, Millan will close the Hillsborough County Tax Collector's Office on Monday, June 20.

Hillsborough County decided to close most government offices on Monday, June 20, after the Hillsborough County Commission declared Juneteenth a county holiday last week.

However, there will be regular solid waste collection on Monday, June 20, (including garbage, recyclables and yard waste) in the unincorporated Hillsborough County service area, which also includes Tampa Palms, Hunter’s Green and New Tampa.

The Southeast County landfill, Northwest and South County transfer stations, Resource Recovery Facility, community collection centers and yard waste processing-facilities will be open.

The following Hillsborough County facilities and services will also be open on the Juneteenth holiday:

• All parks, including dog parks, skate parks, conservation parks, nature preserves, trails, splash pads and boat ramps.
• The Emergency Rental Assistance Program call center.
• A limited number of animal safety and enforcement officers will be on call for emergencies only. The emergency telephone number is 813-744-5660.

The following Hillsborough County facilities and services will be closed on the Juneteenth holiday:

• The administrative offices of county government.
• Hillsborough County's Customer Service Center at 813-272-5900.
• All county recreation centers.
• All libraries in the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative.
• Water resources customer service centers. Emergency calls regarding county water and wastewater service may be made to 813-744-5600.
• The Center for Development Services.
• The Sunshine Line transportation service.
• The Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center.
