Tampa Bay area residents may want to brace themselves for another roller coaster of a week in the weather department.
While sunshine and blue skies won’t be entirely out of this week’s forecast, the National Weather Service is warning once again that strong afternoon showers are also likely in the cards. Monday kicked things off with lots of sunshine in much of the Bay area and a high in the upper 90s anticipated. Those rays aren’t expected to last, however. The weather service anticipates a 70 percent chance of storms in the afternoon hours followed by about a 60 percent chance of rain overnight.
“We’re looking at good chances for showers and thunderstorm in the next several days,” said National Weather Service meteorologist John McMichael. Those storms, he added, could exacerbate ongoing flooding.
