Your 2019 Guide To Tampa Bay's Haunted Houses

There are plenty of places to get chills and thrills this Halloween. Here's a look at some of the spookiest haunted venues in Tampa Bay.

TAMPA BAY, FL — There are plenty of places to get chills and thrills this Halloween. Here's a look at some of the spookiest haunted venues in Tampa Bay.

Scream-A-Geddon

Back for its fifth year of horror, Scream-A-Geddon, set deep within the haunted woods at 27839 Saint Joe Road in Dade City, offers thrills seekers the chance to explore Rage 3D, Demons Revenge, Blackpool Prison, Deadwoods and Infected: Ground Zero — if they dare.

For an additional charge, intrepid guests can also try their hand at defeating an army of zombies in the Zombie Paintball Assault.

New this year is Bozo's Beer Garden. A horrific version of Bozo the clown will serve guests craft beers from breweries throughout Tampa Bay. Those age 21 and up can share a brew with Bozo's bar buddies: Bobo, Icky and Chuckles.

The Monster Midway features midway games, hot and cold drinks, grilled, fried and baked foods and fire pits to set the mood, a Scream-A-Geddon gift shop, caricature artists and more.

Howl-O-Scream

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will host the 20th anniversary of its seasonal haunted house thriller, Howl-O-Scream. Thrill seekers can check it out new nightmares as Busch Gardens Tampa Bay celebrates "20 Years of Fear" with horrifying haunted houses, terrifying scare zones and thrilling roller coaster rides through the dark.

The horrors of Howl-O-Scream's haunted past are the first frights to greet you, rising from the dead and bringing 20 years of fear back to life. Come face to face with Dr. Livingsdoom, the vampires from the House of Vayne, Trickster and more. If you are brave enough, venture through The Residence, the newest sinister house in an already terrifying lineup.

Other haunts include Death Water Bayou: Wrath of The Queen, Insomnia: Patient's Revenge, Motel Hell: Infestation, Simon's Slaughterhouse, The Black Spot: Bloodshed, Meat Market, Dia de los Muertos, Hell on Wheels, Deadly Toys, Camp DOA, along with new offerings Little Nightmares, Carpe Noctem and First Fear.

Howl-O-Scream is a separately ticketed event, available during select nights at Busch Gardens through Nov. 2 from 7:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. Single-night tickets start at $39.99 and unlimited admission for all 22 nights of Howl-O-Scream is available starting at $79.99.

Park guests can upgrade their night of fright by selecting a Front Line Fear Pass with options including front-of-the-line access to haunted houses and attractions, including the all-new Tigris, Florida's tallest launch coaster. Click here for tickets.

Scarehouse Pinellas

Scarehouse Pinellas is back for its second year with new thrills and scares around every corner in the newly air-conditioned 10,000-square-foot warehouse at 12561 Creekside Drive, Largo.

The terrifying tour takes guests through the aftermath of last year's red tide outbreak. After it had infected so many, everyone was thankful to find an anecdote to reverse everything back to normal, or so they thought. The anecdote hadn't been fully tested and the side effects were unknown
until now.

The haunted venue continues throughout October on Fridays ad Saturdays from 7 to 11 p.m.

Scarehouse Pinellas is again partnering with SPCA Tampa Bay and will donate a portion of proceeds as well as collect pet food and supplies at the haunted house. Each donation will earn $5 off a single $15 ticket. Military and first responders will also receive $5 off. Click here for tickets.

UNDead In The Water

UNDead in the Water, Tampa’s only nautical haunted attraction, will take place aboard the American Victory Ship, 705 Channelside Drive, Tampa.

Traverse multiple decks of this historic WWII cargo ship armed only with a black light flashlight while avoiding the infected zombie stowaways.

The American Victory Ship, loaded with members of the elite zombie eradication team known as The Ripper Squad, has pulled back into port to rescue the last few survivors and eliminate as many zombies as possible in the process. Ultra violet lights may slow the infected, but flame-throwers and grenades have a more permanent effect.

UNDead in the Water takes place every Friday and Saturday in October as well as October 31 through Nov. 2 from 8 to 11 p.m. Click here for tickets and information.

Warehouse Of Horrors

STAR Center Forensic Technology will host its third annual Warehouse of Horrors haunted house at 7975 114th Ave. N. Suite 2500, Largo, behind Raytheon on the corner of Belcher and Bryan Dairy roads.

This year, proceeds benefit The Mason Dixon Christmas Wish Fund and the Homeless Empowerment Program. The haunted house will be open Friday, Oct. 25 to Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $8 per person.

Creatures Of The Night

ZooTampa, 1101 W. Sligh Ave., Tampa, will transform into an eerie, immersive Halloween adventure every Friday and Saturday in October from 4 to 10 p.m.

Creatures emerge at dusk with startling surprises around every corner. No horror, no gore, just fun frights for all during this family event.

It includes:

Twisted Tale Trail: The tale is familiar and known to all; three little pigs, a wolf and a girl in a hood frolicking in the woods. What happens when two tales intertwine and something strange begins to unfold? Guests will be immersed in a fight between good and evil as the tale takes an unexpected twist and guests will wonder just who is Little Red?

Rising Waters: A forgotten Florida coastal town was swallowed whole by a mysterious, relentless storm. Guests will experience an array of eerie encounters as the rising and falling waters reveal more about the long-lost inhabitants, good and bad, that are exposed as the flooding recedes.

Medusa’s Stone Cold Cave - Guests can meet Medusa, the serpent-headed Gorgon queen, as she steps out of the pages of mythology and into the darkest shadows of the zoo. Legend warns that those who look her in the eyes are so overwhelmed with fear, they turn to stone.

Enchanted Fairy Meadow– Guests can enjoy this enchanted area filled with overgrown flowers, huge mushrooms and whimsical fairies.

Pigpimples School of Mystery and Mayhem- with multiple shows nightly where families and friends can enjoy a Halloween-themed animal show featuring the zoo's famous animal ambassadors.

Pumpkin Palooza- a special sanctuary at Wallaroo Station set aside for the littlest of ghouls. Younger guests can enjoy a festive fall harvest complete with a pumpkin patch, scarecrows and friendly farm animals.

Sir Henry's Haunted Trail

Come one come all to see the world-famous Sir Henry’s carnival of freaks. This was once the show that rivaled them all. However, nothing endures forever and not even Sir Henry could escape death. Just one week after the death of his bride on their wedding night, Sir Henry’s car crashed into a tree.
Three years later, the freak show remains closed. The trail is overgrown and there have been sightings of a phantom skeleton that closely resembls Sir Henry.

Sir Henry's Haunted Trail is an outdoor haunted trail at 2837 S. Frontage Road in Plant City.
Sir Henry's offers three haunted trails, an escape game, laser tag along with live entertainment, food vendors and merchandise.

Scream Acres

Pasco County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources will once again host Scream Acres at Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park where tormented souls wander the trails and cabins, terrifying all that enter their domain, and zombies roam freely. The venue includes a haunted hayride as well.

Scream Acres will be open Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25 and 26 from 7 to 10 p.m. Recommended for ages 16 and up, admittance is $3. Click here.

The Haunted House On 41

Enter the Haunted House on 41 if you dare.

The Land O' Lakes Heritage Park community center at 5401 Land O' Lakes Blvd. will be transformed into a dark and terrifying maze with frights around every corner.

The haunted house will be open Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26 from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

The cost is $3. There will be free popcorn and drinks. This haunted house isn't recommended for small children.

Gulfport Murder House

Who knows what lurks behind closed doors? Tour a series of short, scary plays to learn about the hauntings and history of the Gulfport Murder House, 3009 54th St. S., Gulfport.

Attendees will tour a unique Gulfport home where rooms will feature a short scary play produced by teams of local writers and actors in this Wordier Than Thou take on the classic haunted house.
Writers include Erika Lance, historian and author Deborah Frethem and Cindy Stovall.

Performances run at 6, 7, 8, and 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26, and at 4 and 5, 6, 7, and 8 p.m. on Oct. 27.

Tours run approximately 45 minutes. There is no seating available. Tours are appropriate for ages 13 and older.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Groups of eight or more can get a discounted rate of $10 per ticket and should email wordierthanthou@gmail.com to purchase tickets at the special rate.

Hartley's Haunted House

The Palm Harbor Museum, 2043 Curlew Road, Palm Harbor, will host Hartley's Haunted House Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25 and 26 from 5 to 9 p.m.

This Halloween, the Hartley family who built the house where the museum is now located more than 100 years ago, are coming back, and they can’t wait to meet you.

The museum is opening its house, upstairs and down, for visitors to have ghostly encounters.

The Haunting Of Peace Hall

A dark force haunts Peace Hall and only the bravest dare enter.

The New Port Richey Recreation & Aquatic Center will host The Haunting of Peace Hall Thursday, Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at Sims Park in New Port Richey.

Spook-A-Thon

The Concourse will host its Spook-A-Thon Halloween event featuring a variety of family-friendly activities every Friday and Saturday in October as well as Sunday Oct. 27. Spooky Town and Spooky Fun will be open Oct. 25 and 26 only.

The Grand Concourse Railroad Club has designed a miniature train ride which winds past the spine-tingling morgue, the looney asylum and other creepy creations.

Volunteer actors who previously created the wildly popular Angelus Haunted Halloween are bringing their terrifying talents to The Concourse. The Spooky Trail haunted walking path through the woods will feature animated special effects, live actors and chilling surprises.

The child-sized village of Pasco Safety Town will come to life as Spooky Town with lighted buildings, face painting and trunk or treating Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25 and 26 only.

Spooky Fun at the jumbo Rotary Pavilion will offer Spooky Fun and entertainment for kids Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25 and 26 only.

Hours are from 5 to 7:15 p.m. for the Daylight Train for young or sensitive children. The Spooky Train and Spooky Trail will run from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Spooky Town and Spooky Fun will be open from 5 to 9:30 p.m. on the last Friday and Saturday before Halloween. The cost is $6 for entry to either the Spooky Train or Spooky Trail, or $10 for both. Spooky Fun is also $6 to enter on the last Friday and Saturday, or $15 for all three. Children 12 months and younger are free. There is no charge to enter Safety Town. Tickets are available at the gate only. Food concessions will be provided for purchase by the West Pasco Sertoma Club.

The Spook-A-Thon is located at The Concourse, 11919 Alric Pottberg Road in Shady Hills (Pasco County) just west of the Suncoast Parkway on State Road 52. The Concourse is a private nonprofit park.

Haunted House In Hudson

Jason and Freddy will be on the haunt when Consulate Healthcare Bayonet Point, 8132 Hudson Ave., Hudson, hosts a haunted house Oct. 30 from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Haunted River Tours

Costumed characters and “batty fiends” join you aboard the Pirate Water Taxi to share tales of ghosts and haunted facts along the Hillsborough River on this 45- to 50-minute water taxi ride. Haunted River Tours offer sailings available on select days for $25 for adults and $20 children. Boarding of the Pirate Water Taxi takes place at the Tampa Convention Center, 333 S Franklin St., Tampa.
