11 Arrested in Prostitution Sting

Six vehicles were also impounded during the sweep.

Eleven people recently found out the hard way that prostitution isn’t a welcomed activity in St. Petersburg.

Responding to resident complaints, St. Petersburg Police Chief Anthony Holloway has instructed officers to increase their efforts to crack down on prostitution with special enforcement operations, the department explained in an email to media. One such operation was staged Tuesday and resulted in the arrest of 11 people and the impounding of six vehicles.

The vehicle impounding was performed under city law. Owners whose vehicles were impounded must pay a $500 civil administrative penalty for the sex-related offense, the department noted in its email.
