2 Charged In Landmark Motel Murder: Police

Authorities believe Vincent Evans Jr. and an unnamed teen were involved in the June 25 shooting and killing of Benjamin Goff.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL —The St. Petersburg Police Department announced Thursday the arrests of two suspects it alleges are responsible for the June 25 shooting and killing of a man at the Landmark Motel.

Vincent Evans Jr., 24, and an unnamed teen were arrested and charged with the murder of 41-year-old Benjamin Goff at the motel, located at 1930 Fourth Street North, the police department said in a release.

Evans has been charged with murder and resisting arrest without violence, while the teen was charged with felony murder 2nd degree and resisting without violence.

Authorities believe the suspects were robbing Goff for drugs and money when a struggle ensued, and Evans shot Goff.

Goff's body was found inside a second-floor room, and authorities recovered a gun at the shooting location.
