26-Year-Old Man Killed Breaking Into Girlfriend's Home

A 26-year-old man has died after police said he broke into his girlfriend's apartment and was shot by a family friend.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 26-year-old man has died after police said he broke into his girlfriend's apartment and was shot by a family friend.

The shooting occurred around 6 a.m. Saturday in the 5800 block of Fairfield Avenue South, St. Petersburg.

Police said Ocossio Nettles and 48-year-old Roderick Donson exchanged fire when Nettles broke into the apartment. Nettles was killed and Donson sustained minor injuries. Two women and a child in the apartment were not injured.
