3 FL Cities Among Top 25 In the Southeast To Call Home, New List Says
Check out which three Florida cities made Livability's new list of the top 25 cities to live in among the Southeast states.
Three Florida cities rank among the top 25 in the Southeast to call home, according to a new list from Livability.com.
Each year, Livability identifies the Top 100 Best Places to Live in America — including the top 25 in the southeastern U.S.
Those compiling the ranking examine cities with populations between 75,000 and 500,000, using nearly 100 different data points to pinpoint the best cities to live in nationwide.

The Florida cities to make the cut are: St. Petersburg, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando.
St. Petersburg “is a fast-growing city and one of the best cities to live in the Southeast. In St. Petersburg, work-life balance includes lots of beach days,” according to the listing for the area. “Nicknamed the ‘Sunshine City,’ it’s sunny 361 days a year here, and the community holds a Guinness World Record for the most consecutive days of sunshine. For the record, it was a 768-day stretch that started in 1967!”

The city also boasts more than 1,000 local events, including monthly artwalks, Florida’s largest Pride celebration and a long-running parade honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
It’s “also a city that prides itself on inclusivity. For example, the city scores a perfect 100 on the Human Rights Campaign’s annual Municipality Equality Index,” the listing said.
St. Pete also boasts a number of museums, golf courses, trails, dog parks, an historic shuffleboard court, and 244 miles of shoreline along Tampa Bay, Boca Ciega Bay, the Gulf of Mexico and intercoastal waterways.
Meanwhile, Fort Lauderdale is being lauded as “a cosmopolitan city with 24 miles of coastline along the Atlantic Ocean, a dynamic dining scene and arts and culture aplenty,” the city’s listing said.
And while Orlando is known for its theme parks, there’s so much more to it, according to Livability — arts and culture, family-friendly communities, health and wellness, and a diverse population.
