5 Things You Need to Know Today: Pools and Lakes are Open
The city's pools and lakes are open today. And if you need to work up a sweat, there's a salsa party at the pier.

1,) Dance the Night Away: This kind of salsa does not come in a bottle on grocery store shelves. The salsa dance music at the St. Pete Pier today is sure to tantalize. 2,) Rays and Rangers at the Trop: Now that Avril Lavigne hit one out of the park with her vitriole at a Saturday show, Rays fans can get back to concentrating on baseball. 3.) Lakes Open for Summer: Did you know St. Pete has 19 fresh-water lakes and two salt lakes? And that all of them open for the season today? Fishing will be allowed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., but you will need a fishing license. Go to www.stpete.org for more information.
4.) Lots to Do: The banks and schools are closed but the Pier is open and so are a slew of recreational activities. The and the city's eight other public pools will be open to the public, as well as three public golf courses.
5.) Flavor Your Bagel: The folks at St. Pete Bagel are searching for the next star bagel flavor. From May 24-June 24, the public is invited to submit their ideas via a form on the bagel store's web site. The experts at St. Pete Bagel will cull the best ideas and put the finalists up for a vote.
