84-Year-Old Killed In Crash On 30th Avenue South

An 84-year-old man was killed Thursday after he ran a stop sign and drove into oncoming traffic.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- An 84-year-old man was killed Thursday after he ran a stop sign and drove into oncoming traffic.

According to the St. Petersburg Police, on Oct. 18 at 6:18 p.m., Anthony Andrew Repeta was driving a Toyota Prius west on 30th Avenue South when he failed to yield at a stop sign at 34th Street South. He crossed into the path of a northbound Ford Taurus driven by Robert Darnell Jefferson, 35. Jefferson tried to avoid Repeta but the front of the Taurus struck the driver's door of the Prius.

Repeta was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he was pronounced dead.
