PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — A Tuesday morning crash left a Tampa motorcyclist dead and is snarling traffic on Interstate 275, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.
The crash, which happened around 4:30 a.m. on the Howard Frankland Bridge, near milepost 35 in Pinellas County, is blocking the two outside southbound lanes, according to the FHP’s Live Traffic Crash and Road Condition Report.
The victim, a 64-year-old man driving a Honda motorcycle, was traveling south on I-275 in the outside center lane, at the time of the crash.
At the same time, a Kia Soul driven by a 48-year-old Lakewood Ranch woman, was traveling southbound in the outside lane.
The motorcyclist changed lanes near milepost 35 into the path of the Kia and was hit by the car, FHP said. He died at the scene.
