The crash happened the night of Aug. 19, just before 10 p.m., at the intersection of 5th Avenue North and Tyrone Boulevard North.

Thomas-McFatten was driving a black Toyota sedan west on 5th Avenue North when she hit a man riding a standing electric scooter north across the avenue.

The man was crossing outside the crosswalk and against the pedestrian signal when he entered the westbound curb lane, police said.

The impact threw him from the scooter, and the Toyota fled the scene, investigators said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
