Blood Drive Honors St. Pete City Employee
Residents are welcome to come and give a pint during Thursday's event.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — St. Petersburg’s Water Resources Department is playing host a Thursday blood drive in honor of one of its own.
Set to take place from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Water Resources Operations Building, 1650 Third Ave. N., the drive was planned to honor the memory of Thomas Bioski.
“Tom was a plant maintenance mechanic in the Water Reclamation Division,” the city wrote in an email to media. “He passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 11, 2014. He was an employee of the city for 19 years.”

The department and One Blood, the region’s blood supplier, plan to hold a brief presentation at 2 p.m. for Bioski’s family.
The drive also comes on the heels of another tragedy involving a water resources employee. On Tuesday, Steve Wes Milliron, 63, was struck by a car while crossing the road in front of City Hall. Milliron was last listed in critical condition, according to St. Petersburg Police. The crash remains under investigation.

“We are all reminded how fragile life can be and how the simple gift of blood can make the difference for any one of us or our families,” the city noted in its email.
Robert Clydesdale, spokesman for water resources, said anyone who would like to come out and support the blood drive is invited to do so.
