Bullet Pierces Window At St. Pete Preschool; No Injuries Reported
St. Petersburg Police say someone shot a bullet through the window of a preschool classroom with eight 2-year-old children inside.
ST. PETERSBURG. FL -- St. Petersburg Police say someone shot a bullet through the window of a preschool classroom with 11 2-year-old children inside.
The shooting occurred around 3 p.m. Thursday at the preschool, which is part of Allendale United Methodist Church, 3803 Haines Road. No one was injured. Police say 44 children attend the preschool.
In a Facebook comment, a church spokesman said it appears as if the bullet was fired from a long distance and the preschool wasn't a target.

"Our teachers immediately took the children to the chapel, locked down the campus, and called police," said the church on Facebook. "Officers arrived shortly after the incident and are now conducting their investigation. At this point, we don't have any information from the police on where the bullet came from but they do assure us that there is no ongoing risk."
The church said all the parents were notified and picked up their children. The school will be closed Friday. Out of an abundance of caution, the St. Petersburg Police are also providing additional security.
