Event Details
In response to the trauma of industrialization and urbanization in the late 19th century the emergence of Arts and Craft communities like Rose Valley, Byrdcliffe, and Roycroft endeavored to reform the economic and social inequalities of industrial capitalism through communal living, artistic development, craft, and the sale of finely crafted furniture, architecture, metalwork and more. Join Dr. Guiler as he shares how these communities dedicated themselves to handicraft, worker dignity, and the production of beautiful art for the masses in this time of industrialization. Dr. Guiler’s book will be available for sale and for signing.
